Oborevwori Promises More Jobs for Delta Youths as Infrastructure Projects Expand
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged to create more employment opportunities for youths through ongoing infrastructure projects and strategic partnerships with construction firms across the state.
The governor made the promise on Monday while addressing workers at the Julius Berger Nigeria Plc project site in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
Oborevwori said his administration remained committed to using road, bridge, and urban renewal projects to tackle unemployment, reduce economic hardship, and improve the living conditions of residents.
According to him, many young people are losing hope because of limited opportunities, stressing that government must continue to invest in projects capable of generating direct and indirect jobs.
“There are many challenges facing our people today, especially unemployment and economic hardship. Too many of our young people are giving up because opportunities are limited. That is why we must continue to create jobs, empower our youths, and ensure that development reaches every community,” the governor said.
The governor commended contractors and workers handling projects across the state, noting that their contributions were helping to accelerate development in host communities.
He disclosed that his administration would continue to award more projects to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc as part of efforts to expand job opportunities and fast-track infrastructure renewal in Warri, Effurun, and other areas of the state.
Oborevwori also revealed that the reconstruction of the Effurun Roundabout to NPA axis had already been awarded to the company in line with his administration’s urban development agenda for the Warri/Effurun metropolis.
The governor praised the reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the policies had increased revenue available to state governments for projects and improved salary payments.
He urged residents and workers to continue supporting the Tinubu-led administration and candidates of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking further, Oborevwori disclosed that the inauguration of the completed Trans Warri-Ode Itsekiri Roads and Bridges project would take place after the completion of the Ubeji-Ifie Road.
“We are determined to complete important projects across the state, including roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure. Some of these projects may not yet be completed, but work is ongoing, and when they are completed, the people will enjoy the full benefits,” he stated.
The governor thanked workers and supporters for their commitment to the state’s development agenda and assured Deltans that his administration would remain focused on people-oriented projects capable of transforming communities and boosting economic growth across Delta State.
