Oborevwori Warns Politicians: ‘Anyone Who Undermines Fathers of Faith Is Doomed’
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has warned that politicians who disrespect or undermine fathers of faith are heading for destruction, stressing that spiritual leaders play critical roles in governance, peace, and national stability.
The governor made the declaration during a special thanksgiving service at Word of Life Bible Church in honour of renowned clerics, Ayo Oritsejafor and Felix Omobude, following their survival from a recent air incident.
Speaking before a congregation filled with church leaders, government officials, and worshippers, Oborevwori said spiritual fathers remained indispensable to leadership because of their prayers, guidance, and moral support.
“Fathers of Faith continue to pray for us and encourage us to do more for the people. Any politician who undermines Fathers of Faith is doomed because spiritual guidance and prayers are very important in leadership,” the governor declared.
The thanksgiving service drew top dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Emomotimi Guwor.
Oborevwori described Pastor Oritsejafor as a father of faith whose ministry had transformed countless lives across Nigeria and beyond.
According to the governor, attending the thanksgiving service was non-negotiable because the event represented a celebration of God’s mercy and preservation.
“Today, I am standing before our Fathers of Faith, and I feel deeply honoured to be here. This is not a funeral gathering but a celebration of God’s faithfulness and mercy,” he said.
The governor also reflected on his political journey, saying God remained faithful through the various challenges and legal battles he encountered.
He disclosed that before leaving his former political party, he sought prayers and blessings from spiritual leaders, adding that their guidance contributed significantly to his success.
Oborevwori further praised Oritsejafor for raising generations of believers who are making positive impacts around the world through ministry, leadership, and service.
During the service, Ayo Oritsejafor recounted several near-death experiences, saying divine intervention had repeatedly preserved his life.
“I can’t explain it, but I know God loves me and He is a good God,” the cleric said.
Oritsejafor narrated how he once declined pressure to board a helicopter that later crashed after takeoff.
He also recalled another frightening incident during a flight to Lagos when a passenger allegedly threatened to blow up an aircraft before security operatives intervened.
The former president of the Christian Association of Nigeria further disclosed that on another occasion, passengers onboard a private aircraft suddenly struggled to breathe after the cabin allegedly became filled with carbon dioxide.
According to him, despite fears of a possible explosion after a strange sound was heard midair, the aircraft landed safely in Lagos.
Delivering the sermon, David Zilly-Aggrey described the thanksgiving service as evidence of God’s divine protection over His people.
He said even aviation experts abroad could not fully explain the incident, insisting that God alone preserved the lives of the church leaders.
The cleric emphasized that thanksgiving remains a powerful acknowledgement of God’s faithfulness and protection, declaring that God had once again said “No” to death.
