Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the immediate palliative repair of the deplorable Mosogar-Oghara Road in Ethiope West Local Government Area, bringing relief to thousands of motorists and commuters who use the busy route daily.

Following the Governor’s directive, Obakpor Engineering Construction Company has been instructed to mobilize to the site without delay to restore the damaged sections of the road and improve the free flow of traffic along the ever-busy East-West corridor linking Mosogar and Oghara.

A visit to the project site by our correspondent confirmed that the contractor has already mobilized men and equipment to commence the palliative repairs in line with the state government’s directive.

The intervention comes after months of public outcry over the deteriorating condition of the road, which had become a nightmare for motorists, commercial transport operators and residents due to numerous failed portions and heavy traffic congestion.

Our reporter gathered that the Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, Hon. Chris Onogba, had within the last six months committed millions of naira to carry out emergency repairs on the road in a bid to make it motorable pending a more comprehensive intervention by the state government.

Several road users who spoke with our correspondent lamented the hardship caused by the poor state of the road, describing it as a “road of tears” because of the frequent vehicle breakdowns, delays and increased transportation costs.

They, however, expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for responding to their concerns and approving the palliative repairs, expressing optimism that the intervention would significantly ease vehicular movement and reduce the suffering of commuters and businesses that depend on the route.

Residents and motorists have also urged the President Tinubu led government to consider a comprehensive reconstruction of the Mosogar-Oghara Road to provide a lasting solution to its recurring deterioration, noting its strategic importance as a major link road within Ethiope West Local Government Area.
