Governor urges APC unity, discipline ahead of Presidential Primary Election

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has intensified mobilisation efforts ahead of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Primary Election, rallying party leaders and members in Delta State to deliver overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu.

The Delta State governor, who is also coordinating the presidential primary exercise in the state, made the call on Friday during a strategic visit to APC founding leader in Delta State, O’tega Emerhor, at his Evwreni country home in Ughelli North Local Government Area.

Speaking before party stakeholders and supporters, Oborevwori expressed confidence that Delta APC would deliver at least 390,000 affirmation votes for President Tinubu during Saturday’s nationwide primary election.

According to the governor, the party currently has more than 470,000 registered members across Delta State and possesses the grassroots structure required to secure massive participation.

“We know our strength as a party in Delta State. We have over 470,000 members and we expect massive turnout. We are determined to deliver strong numbers because this exercise is important for the unity and future of our party,” Oborevwori said.

Oborevwori: Tinubu Deserves More Votes

The governor recalled the support he received during his affirmation as APC governorship candidate in Delta State, noting that President Tinubu deserved even greater support as leader of the party.

“You affirmed me as sole governorship candidate with over 345,000 votes. This one is for Mr. President and he deserves more because he is the leader of the party,” he stated.

Oborevwori also used the occasion to stress the importance of party discipline, loyalty and respect for leadership within the APC.

He warned that political parties lacking internal order and respect for authority often struggle with unity and stability.

According to him, adherence to party hierarchy and collective responsibility remain critical for sustaining political success and strengthening the APC ahead of future elections.

“A political party without discipline, without respect for leadership and without regard for authority cannot move forward. Leadership must be respected because that is what provides direction and stability for any organisation,” the governor added.

O’tega Emerhor Praises Oborevwori’s Leadership Style

Responding, APC founding leader O’tega Emerhor commended Governor Oborevwori for strengthening the party since joining the APC.

Emerhor, who also chairs the APC Ughelli North Leaders Council, praised the governor for his humility and respect toward elders and party stakeholders.

“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is one governor who respects elders so much. We have fought for this party for years and we thank God for his coming to provide leadership and direction,” Emerhor said.

He stressed that consultation, inclusiveness and respect for party structures remain essential ingredients for effective political leadership and successful party administration.

Emerhor assured the governor that APC leaders and members across Delta State were fully prepared to work for massive votes for President Tinubu during the Presidential Primary Election.

“We are standing fully behind you because you have been leading us well and we will work hard to deliver more votes for President Bola Tinubu,” he said.
