Oborevwori Credits God for Delta’s Development as State Marks 3 Years Without Borrowing
Governor Says Prudent Management, Peace and Divine Guidance Drove Achievements as Apostle Joshua Selman Ministers at Delta Thanksgiving
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has attributed the achievements of his administration over the last three years to God’s grace, wisdom and prudent management, declaring that the state recorded major development strides without borrowing funds.
Speaking during the 2026 Delta State Thanksgiving and Praise Day held at the Dome Event Centre in Asaba on Friday, Governor Oborevwori said the occasion was an opportunity to appreciate God for sustaining his administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
Addressing political leaders, traditional rulers, clergy, government officials and residents, the governor described his three years in office as “eventful, exciting and enlightening,” while thanking Deltans for their continued support.
Oborevwori Says Delta Achieved Growth Without Borrowing
The governor said his administration had remained committed to people-oriented projects and infrastructure development while maintaining financial discipline.
“Today, we are celebrating three years of this administration. Indeed, this is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our sight,” Oborevwori said.
He emphasized that projects executed under his administration were backed by available funds, insisting that Delta State had consistently met its obligations without taking loans.
“We are here to thank God for the wisdom to execute development projects all over the state without borrowing a kobo from anybody or bank. Every contract that we give out, the money is available,” he stated.
Peace, Security and Investment Driving Delta’s Progress
Governor Oborevwori noted that peace and security had continued to create opportunities for investment and economic growth in Delta State.
He commended security agencies for maintaining stability and said Delta’s peaceful environment had strengthened investor confidence.
The governor also acknowledged former governors, including James Ibori, Emmanuel Uduaghan and Ifeanyi Okowa, for laying the foundation for continued development.
Apostle Joshua Selman Shares Keys to Sustained Progress
Delivering a sermon titled “Ever Increasing Progress,” renowned cleric Joshua Selman emphasized that lasting success begins with acknowledging God.
He highlighted seven biblical principles for sustained progress, including humility, courage, strategic relationships, thanksgiving, knowledge acquisition and staying focused despite criticism.
Selman also commended Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to development and encouraged leaders and citizens to remain focused on long-term goals.
Dignitaries, Gospel Ministers Attend Delta Thanksgiving Event
The event featured scripture reading by Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme and praise ministrations by gospel artistes including Dunsin Oyekan, Moses Bliss, Asu Ekiye, Solomon Urete and others.
A major highlight of the gathering was the cutting of the anniversary cake to commemorate the administration’s third year in office.
