Delta South APC leaders have reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, with leaders promising to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the senatorial district.

The commitment was made on Thursday at the Delta South Senatorial District Mega Meeting of APC leaders, elders and stakeholders in Warri, where party leaders also called for unity, reconciliation and stronger grassroots structures ahead of the elections.

The stakeholders said the APC must translate the growing political momentum in Delta South into actual votes at the polls, declaring that the senatorial district was determined to regain its position as one of the strongest political blocs in Delta State.

Joel-Onowakpo urges APC members to mobilise voters

Speaking at the meeting, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, who represents Delta South in the National Assembly, said victory in 2027 would depend on the ability of party members to work together and mobilise voters at the grassroots.

Thomas urged APC members to return to their respective wards, units and communities and ensure that the party’s support translates into votes.

“The task before us is victory. We have a responsibility to work together, mobilise our people and ensure that our party produces the maximum votes in the forthcoming elections.”

The senator also appealed to APC candidates to remain committed to the party and avoid actions that could create divisions among members.

He urged party leaders and supporters to take the achievements of the Tinubu administration and the Oborevwori-led Delta State Government to the grassroots as part of the party’s campaign and mobilisation efforts.

According to him, voters are closely watching the performance of governments at different levels, making effective communication of government achievements an important part of the 2027 campaign.

Guwor targets all 87 wards in Delta South

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, said the political atmosphere in Delta South was changing, with youths and leaders from different ethnic nationalities showing renewed interest in the electoral process.

Guwor challenged APC members to improve the party’s performance in the 2027 elections and ensure that all 87 wards in Delta South deliver strong results for the APC.

“Delta South will do better than before. We are determined to make Delta South the highest-performing senatorial district in Delta State.”

The Speaker also called for support for APC candidates contesting National and State Assembly seats, including Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko and Basil Ganagana, among others.

He described the emerging unity among APC leaders and stakeholders as a major advantage that must be sustained ahead of the elections.

Delta APC chairman calls for unity

The Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, said the party was determined to rebuild its political strength in Delta South.

Arenyeka recalled the district’s political history and urged leaders across its various ethnic nationalities and local government areas to unite and strengthen the party’s structures.

He called for intensified mobilisation across Warri South-West, Warri North, Warri South, Isoko North, Isoko South, Bomadi, Burutu and Patani, among other areas.

The state chairman also reaffirmed the APC’s support for Tinubu, Oborevwori and the party’s candidates at the National and State Assembly levels.

Delta South APC seeks reconciliation after primaries

In his welcome remarks, Delta South APC Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba, identified reconciliation as critical to the party’s chances in 2027.

Amgbaduba appealed to members who were dissatisfied with the outcome of the APC primaries to set aside their differences and use the party’s internal dispute-resolution mechanisms to resolve outstanding issues.

He also urged successful candidates to reach out to those who contested against them and build inclusive campaign structures.

The chairman said the APC’s campaign would focus on communicating the achievements of its governments in areas including infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic development and empowerment.

He further directed local government party chairmen to maintain close communication with the state leadership and promptly address issues within their respective areas.

Delta South leaders unite behind APC 2027 campaign

The meeting attracted several prominent APC leaders and stakeholders, including Senator Stella Omu, Senator James Manager, Chief of Staff to the Governor Prince Johnson Erijo, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor and Mrs Ifeyinwa Sobotie, alongside members of the National and State Assemblies.

Goodwill messages were also delivered by Chief Bernard Okumagba, representing the Urhobo; Hon. Daniel Reyenieju, Itsekiri; Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Ijaw; and Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay, Isoko.

The stakeholders urged APC members across Delta South to remain united and work collectively for the success of the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.

They identified unity, reconciliation, grassroots mobilisation and effective communication of government achievements as key pillars of the APC’s strategy.

With the 2027 elections approaching, Delta South APC leaders have therefore charged members to return to their wards and units, mobilise voters and convert the renewed political momentum into electoral gains for the party.
