Tensions flared in Kano State as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf leveled accusations against the handlers of the N6 billion Ramadan feeding program, alleging mismanagement of funds allocated for the initiative.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, Yusuf expressed disappointment during an unscheduled visit to one of the feeding centers in Gidan Maza, Municipal Local Government Area. He voiced his dismay over the handling of the program, citing concerns about the deprivation of beneficiaries.

“We will not tolerate dishonesty and mismanagement of public resources. It is crucial to emphasize that the funds allocated for this initiative are meticulously documented at each center,” Governor Yusuf emphasized.

The governor’s visit followed reports of deficiencies in the management of the program across various centers in the metropolis, prompting him to personally assess the situation.

In response, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State challenged the NNPP-led government to substantiate the expenditure of the N6 billion allocated for the Ramadan feeding program.

Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the State APC chairman, raised the challenge while inaugurating the distribution of palliatives to APC leaders and supporters in Dawakin Kudu. Abbas criticized the program as a facade and demanded tangible evidence from the state government to justify the expenses incurred.

The unfolding saga has intensified scrutiny on the utilization of public funds, sparking a contentious debate over accountability and transparency in governance. As stakeholders await further developments, the controversy surrounding the N6 billion Ramadan feeding initiative continues to reverberate throughout Kano State.
