Tinubu Sets Up APC Conflict Resolution Committee Ahead of 2027 Elections
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated a powerful APC Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation, signaling renewed efforts to strengthen unity within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee was inaugurated on Wednesday in Lagos and is tasked with addressing internal disputes, mobilising party structures nationwide, and reinforcing cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Leading the committee is Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, with former APC National Legal Adviser Muiz Banire serving as Member/Secretary. The panel is made up of influential governors, ministers, and senior party stakeholders.
Notable members include Kwara State Governor and NGF Chairman Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, Imo State Governor and PGF Chairman Hope Uzodimma, Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia, Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi, Cross River Governor Bassey Otu, Ekiti Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, and Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Others on the committee are Kaduna Governor Uba Sani, Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, and the President’s SSA on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Buni pledged that the committee would pursue inclusive dialogue, reconciliation, and proactive conflict management, assuring aggrieved party members of fairness and belonging.
“Our focus is to develop a result-driven and inclusive strategy that will strengthen the APC and position it for long-term success,” Buni said.
President Tinubu had earlier underscored the importance of unity at the 15th APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on December 19, 2025, in Abuja. He reminded party leaders that tolerance and accommodation are essential for democratic stability.
“We must be accommodating and tolerant if this democracy must endure,” the President said.
The inauguration of the committee is widely seen as a strategic move by the President to consolidate party unity, prevent internal fractures, and strengthen the APC ahead of future electoral contests.
