2Baba, whose birth name is Innocent Ujah Idibia, was born in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, on September 18, 1975. He is originally from central Nigeria’s Benue State, home of the Idoma ethnic community.

He began his musical career in the mid-1990s and was writing songs and recording jingles by 1996, particularly at the Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS) GB Fan Club.

In order to distinguish between his personal and professional lives, he first went by the stage name “2Face.” However, in 2016, he formally changed it to “2Baba.”

Over the years, he has become one of Africa’s most respected musicians. In 2005, he won the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act. In 2019, he collaborated with Cobhams Asuquo and Timi Dakolo on a song to raise awareness for children’s rights.

2Baba Educational Background

2 Baba went to Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School Makurdi. He subsequently went on to study business administration at the Institute of Management & Technology (IMT) in Enugu.

He laid the groundwork for his music career while attending IMT by performing at several shows and actively participating in school activities.

2Baba Career

2Baba started his career in music as a member of Plantashun Boiz, a group he established while attending IMT with his friends Faze and Blackface.

Under Nelson Brown’s Dove Records, the trio put out two albums: Body and Soul (2000) and Sold Out (2003). But the trio broke up in 2004, and 2Baba made the decision to go solo.

He launched his first solo album, Face 2 Face, that same year. It was well-reviewed and went on to be named the best Nigerian solo artist’s debut album of the twenty-first century.

African Queen, the song that made him famous worldwide, was on the album.

He followed up with Grass 2 Grace in 2006 before departing Kennis Music to launch his own record label, Hypertek Digital.

In 2009, he experimented with a new sound in his album The Unstoppable, followed by an international edition in 2010
