Oluremi Tinubu Receives Hero’s Welcome In Warri As Sheriff Oborevwori Hails Her Compassionate Leadership
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has described Nigeria as blessed to have a humble and compassionate First Lady in Senator Oluremi Tinubu, praising her unwavering commitment to the poor and vulnerable.
The governor spoke Thursday at a grand homecoming reception held in honour of the First Lady at the palace of the Ogiame Atuwatse III, where thousands gathered as early as 7 a.m. in a show of solidarity and affection.
“A First Lady Who Truly Cares”
Addressing the jubilant crowd, Governor Oborevwori commended Senator Tinubu’s impactful tenure in the Senate, noting her consistent advocacy for policies that positively affected Nigerians.
“Nigerians are blessed to have a humble and compassionate First Lady who genuinely cares for the poor and vulnerable in our communities,” the governor said.
He described her as a worthy daughter of the Itsekiri nation with an outstanding record of public service and integrity.
Renewed Hope Initiative: Impact In Delta
Governor Oborevwori highlighted that this marks Senator Tinubu’s third official visit to Delta State in two years, referencing key interventions under her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI):
August 2024 (Asaba): Flag-off of the Renewed Hope Initiative empowerment programme for the South-South.
March 2025: Launch of the Free to Shine programme, which saw the distribution of 10,000 professional kits to midwives across the region to strengthen healthcare delivery.
He particularly praised her respect for traditional institutions, recalling how she honoured royal fathers outside the formal programme schedule during a previous visit.
“That singular act of love and respect made a lot of things easier for me as governor. Even when we were in the opposition, she showed us love,” Oborevwori added.
Global Recognition And National Unity
The governor also referenced Senator Tinubu’s participation at the 4th National Prayer Congress in the United States, describing her as a “global icon” who represented Nigeria with dignity on the world stage.
Reaffirming Delta State’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda, Oborevwori assured the First Lady of the state’s continued alignment with federal reforms aimed at national development.
N50 Million Empowerment For Women In Warri.
In her remarks, Senator Oluremi Tinubu described the reception as deeply emotional and symbolic of a homecoming rooted in heritage and gratitude.
As part of her Renewed Hope Initiative, she announced a ₦50 million empowerment package for 1,000 women petty traders in the kingdom and pledged additional support for young men in collaboration with the Delta State Government.
She also called for unity across religious and ethnic divides, noting the coincidental alignment of the Christian Lenten season and the Muslim fasting period as a divine call for togetherness.
Royal Endorsement
Earlier, the Olu of Warri, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, described the visit as divinely ordained and symbolic of unity and healing for the Niger Delta and Nigeria.
The colourful ceremony drew top dignitaries, including former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, members of the National Assembly, state lawmakers, and leaders of key federal agencies.
Cultural displays, solidarity chants, and widespread participation underscored what Governor Oborevwori termed the “organic and unwavering support” of the people for purposeful leadership anchored on service and compassion.
