Okuama killings: UPU youth President, IYC met behind closed doors in Bayelsa

In a bid to sustain hitherto peace between the Ijaw and Urhobo ethnic nationality, especially with the recent killings in Okuama and Okoloba communities, the National President of the Urhobo Progress Union, youth wing, Comr. Ughere Blessed and its counterpart of Ijaw Youth Council, Jonathan Lokpobiri earlier today met behind closed doors.
The meeting that lasted for hours between the two leaders was seen to be moves by the Urhobo youth leader to use intellect to solve crisis than resorting to violence.
At the end of the meeting the leaders, UPU President Ughere Blessed said he was Bayelsa State to meet with IYC President to brainstorm on how to find a lasting solution to the lingering crisis between Okoloba and Okuama communities.
Ughere called for peace and restraint from the military that has since occupied the duo communities, stressed that the duo communities at not at war.
“Our meeting today bothers on sustaining our age-long ethnic togetherness, using intellect to solve conflicts than resorting to war and that is what we have agreed.”
“We calls for peace and restraint from the military in urhobo and ijaw community . We are not at war.”
Ughere also cautioned those fanning embers of war to desist forth-with or be ready to face the wrath of the Urhobo youths.
Amongst the delegation of the Urhobo youth leader was the legal adviser of UPU youth wing, Princess Bar. Omeyoma Eshemitan.
