Oborevwori Bags Overall Governor of the Year 2025
Governor Oborevwori received the prestigious Overall Governor of the Year 2025 award at the New Telegraph Awards/Dinner Night held at the Ballroom of Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
Represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, the governor was honoured for what organisers called “remarkable infrastructural achievements” and transformative governance recorded within less than three years in office.
Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of New Telegraph, Mr. Ayodele Aminu, said winners emerged after a rigorous and transparent selection process assessing performance across key sectors.
According to the organisers, Oborevwori “astonished even his most ardent critics” through extensive development projects, particularly in infrastructure.
Under the administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda, Delta State has reportedly embarked on over 3,500 kilometres of road construction and about 2,000 kilometres of drainage projects, alongside bridges, flyovers and urban renewal initiatives aimed at boosting connectivity and economic growth.
Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, Onyeme dedicated the recognition to God and the people of Delta State.
“This recognition shows we are on the right track. The infrastructure is visible, and progress is evident in education, healthcare delivery, human capital development, youth empowerment and sports,” he said.
Former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, who chaired the ceremony, urged recipients to see the awards as a call to greater service and responsibility.
Top government officials, including Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, attended the event.
