Oborevwori Approves 2025 Bursary for 33,064 Students, Scholarships for 596 Others in Delta State
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the 2025 bursary scheme for 33,064 Delta State students studying in public and private tertiary institutions across Nigeria, alongside scholarships and special financial support packages targeting vulnerable groups.
The approval also includes scholarship awards for 545 children of deceased civil servants and 51 students with disabilities. In addition, 533 Delta State students at the Nigerian Law School will benefit from a special financial assistance package.
The Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Dr. Godfrey Enita, announced the development on Thursday, February 12, 2026, during a meeting with the leadership of the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU).
2025 Delta Bursary: Payments Now Being Processed.
According to Dr. Enita, the state government has commenced processing payments for the approved bursaries and scholarships. He explained that the intervention is designed to cushion the economic pressure currently faced by students and their families.
The meeting with NADESSTU executives followed concerns raised by students over delays in the disbursement of the 2025 bursary. Dr. Enita assured the student body that the government remains committed to fulfilling its obligations promptly.
Focus on Education, Human Capital Development
The Oborevwori administration reiterated that education remains a top priority, describing it as a strategic pillar for sustainable development and long-term human capital growth in Delta State.
Reacting to the approval, NADESSTU President, Comrade Oweiotu-Ebi Joseph, alongside Senate President Comrade Idiseru Alex, commended the governor for what they described as a timely and impactful intervention.
They noted that the bursary and scholarship packages would significantly reduce financial strain on thousands of Delta students and pledged continued support for the state government’s education-driven initiatives.
