Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has declared that his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) is already delivering positive outcomes for Delta State, citing improved governance and stronger federal alignment.

Speaking at the APC National Elective Convention held at Eagle Square, Abuja, the governor said his April 28, 2025 defection was strategic and necessary to connect Delta State to the center of power.

APC Growing Stronger Nationwide

Oborevwori described the convention as proof of APC’s rising influence across Nigeria, noting that the party now controls an unprecedented number of states.

According to him, “We are now 31 governors in APC. No political party has achieved this since 1999,” highlighting what he called the party’s expanding national acceptance.

Alignment With Tinubu Bringing Benefits

The governor credited improved state finances and governance outcomes to policies introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He explained that increased revenue allocations have enabled states to:

Pay salaries promptly

Execute major projects

Meet financial obligations more efficiently

Oborevwori acknowledged that while Nigerians are experiencing economic challenges, the reforms are beginning to yield gradual results.

“The policies are working, but it takes time. We understand the suffering, but progress is being made,” he said.

Oil Production and Security Improvements

The governor also pointed to gains in the oil sector, noting a significant reduction in attacks on oil facilities in Delta State.

He said the improved security situation has boosted crude oil output, reaffirming Delta’s position as Nigeria’s leading oil-producing state.

Commitment to Development

Oborevwori emphasized that his administration remains focused on delivering dividends of democracy across key sectors, including:

Infrastructure

Healthcare

Education

Security

Call for Continued Support

He urged residents of Delta State to continue supporting both his administration and the federal government, expressing confidence that Nigerians will reward President Tinubu with re-election in 2027.
