Igbakpa urges for Political Cohesion amongst Ibori’s kinsmen

Former Member, House of Representatives and Chieftains of the People Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State, Hon. Ben Igbakpa PhD has called for a united front amongst Ibori kinsmen, urging them to think of filling the power vacuum created  at the State and Local government whilst the former governor play national politics, just as he expressed his disappointment with Oghara politicians, describing Oghara as been politically stagnant since Ibori step up his leadership ladder to national politics.

He made the remarks while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Oghara Elite Forum executives, a prominent socio-cultural organization in Oghara at the weekend.

The former lawmaker emphasized
that Chief James Onanefe Ibori’s transition from state to national politics created a power vacuum in Oghara, the hometown of the former governor instead of consolidating their positions for to fill the vacuum created; argued that some politicians in the area are busy fighting themselves for selfish gains, creating more problems and mistrust, leaving Ibori not to trust them, but resorted to pushing pushing his offspring and blood related allies politically.

He cautioned politicians to be mindful of this gap and ensure that someone needs to occupy the space left by chief Ibori whilst he is on sojourn to National politics.

Unfortunately, Igbakpa noted that Oghara politicians have been preoccupied with internal conflicts, leaving Ibori with little or no support base at his ancestral home.

Igbakpa’s stance has been viewed as significant statement that wish to be reflected upon by politicians within the Ibori political family. His concerns about the political vacuum in Oghara and the need for local politicians to step up and fill the gap should be pondered upon.

Igbakpa who is also a prominent traditional Chief of Oghara kingdom has strong track record of public service, haven represented Ethiope West Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly and the federal house of representatives. He has also been involved in various community and national development initiatives, earning him recognition as a dedicated and effective lawmaker and political leader.
