FOUR RIVERS REP MEMBERS DUMP PDP, LP FOR APC
The political landscape of Rivers State has further Ben reshaped on Thursday as four members of the House of Representatives officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The exit of these lawmakers, three from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the Labour Party (LP), was formalised during a plenary session in Abuja.
Those who defected are Awaji-Inombek Abiante (Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro), Boma Goodhead (Asari-Toru/Akuku-Toru), and Boniface Emerengwa (Ikwerre/Emohua), all formerly of the PDP.
They were joined by Manuchim Umezuruike, who represents the Port Harcourt I Federal Constituency on the platform of the Labour Party.
In their letters read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, the legislators cited “protracted and unresolved leadership crises” within their respective parties as the legal and political basis for their move.
This mass defection comes exactly nine days after the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, stunned the nation by dumping the PDP for the APC on December 9, 2025.
The lawmakers, who have remained staunchly loyal to Governor Fubara throughout his bitter feud with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, followed the Governor’s lead to consolidate a new “Progressive” front in the state.
