DSCTDA Launches Major Cleanup at Koka Bridge to Restore Environmental Sanity in Asaba

The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has commenced a fresh environmental cleanup exercise at Koka Bridge in Asaba, reinforcing efforts to maintain sanitation and improve the aesthetic appeal of the state capital.

The intervention, which began on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, was executed by the Environment Unit of the Agency and focused on clearing indiscriminately dumped waste, littered faeces, and accumulated sand along the bridge axis.

Targeting Environmental Nuisances
The cleanup operation was supervised by the Head of Environment at the Agency, Mr Isaac Nwosu, who led officials in removing environmental hazards and restoring cleanliness to the area.

The initiative forms part of DSCTDA’s broader mandate to ensure environmental sustainability and maintain orderliness within the capital territory.

Commitment to a Cleaner Capital
Speaking on the exercise, the Director-General of the Agency, Mr Patrick Ukah, reiterated the Agency’s commitment to keeping Asaba clean, orderly, and environmentally friendly.

According to him, maintaining a hygienic capital city remains a top priority, noting that the intervention will continue with further cleaning activities, including the evacuation of sand from the affected area.

Call for Public Cooperation
Mr Ukah urged residents, traders, and road users to support the Agency’s efforts by avoiding indiscriminate waste disposal and embracing responsible sanitation practices.

The cleanup exercise underscores DSCTDA’s ongoing commitment to creating a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for residents and visitors within the Delta State capital territory.
