Double Honours for Oborevwori as LEADERSHIP, New Telegraph Name Him Governor of the Year 2025
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has received double national recognition after being named Governor of the Year 2025 by LEADERSHIP Newspapers and New Telegraph Newspapers, in acknowledgement of his administration’s governance reforms, infrastructure drive, and people-focused policies.
The awards highlight what the organisers described as impactful leadership and sustained implementation of programmes that have accelerated development and improved socio-economic conditions across Delta State.
LEADERSHIP Newspapers announced that Governor Oborevwori will be honoured at the 18th LEADERSHIP Conference and Awards holding today, February 12, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The annual conference brings together political leaders, policymakers, business executives, and development partners to discuss key national and continental challenges while recognising individuals and institutions contributing to national growth.
This year’s conference is themed: “Political Stability and Sustainable Development in Africa in an Increasingly Unstable Global System: A Roadmap for Nigeria.”
In a related development, New Telegraph Newspapers has also selected Governor Oborevwori as its Overall Governor of the Year 2025. The award ceremony is scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Both media organisations cited inclusive governance, strategic infrastructure development, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of Deltans as key factors behind the recognition.
Political observers say the double honours reinforce Governor Oborevwori’s growing national visibility and signal broader acknowledgement of his administration’s developmental strides.
