Asaba, Delta State — Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Friday held a high-level meeting in Asaba, stressing party unity, accelerated e-registration, grassroots mobilisation, and preparedness ahead of the party’s forthcoming congresses and the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, which took place at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Asaba, brought together top party leaders, elected officials, and stakeholders from across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori said leadership must draw its legitimacy from the people and be guided by humility, empathy, and service. He urged party leaders to place collective interest above personal ambitions and warned against internal divisions capable of weakening the APC in Delta State.

According to the governor, unity remains the party’s strongest asset, adding that meetings of such nature provide opportunities to review progress, strengthen party structures, and prepare for key political milestones.

Oborevwori emphasised that effective mobilisation, mass registration, and active participation would determine the APC’s electoral success. He stressed the need for stakeholders to deliver overwhelming votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections, noting that electoral performance would define the party’s strength and influence at the federal level.

Also speaking, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, urged members to remain focused as the party moves closer to its congresses. He commended the progress recorded in the ongoing APC e-registration exercise and highlighted the party’s growing diversity and expansion in Delta State.

Keyamo cautioned against rumours and unnecessary delays, calling for early engagement, dialogue, and consensus-building at the local level to reduce tension during the congress process.
Immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, thanked Governor Oborevwori for convening the meeting, describing his visit to Government House after many years as a strong signal of inclusiveness. He pledged to work with the governor and other stakeholders to further strengthen the APC in the state.

Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, commended stakeholders for their unity and sustained engagement. He urged intensified grassroots mobilisation, advising party leaders to take the e-registration exercise directly to homes and communities. He also stressed inclusiveness and consensus in the conduct of congresses, praising Governor Oborevwori’s role in fostering harmony within the party.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Felix Morka, lauded the governor’s leadership and the digitalisation of the party’s membership register. He recommended a consensus approach for the forthcoming congresses to ensure stability and cohesion.

In his welcome address, Delta State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, disclosed that the party had recorded over 90 per cent realignment since April 2025, describing the meeting as evidence of growing unity, momentum, and renewed confidence within the party.
On e-registration and congress preparations, Delta North APC Chairman, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, reported relative peace in the district but noted challenges with registration. Delta Central Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, said Okpe Local Government Area was leading statewide in registration figures, while appealing for restraint pending official congress guidelines. Delta South Chairman, Prince Austin Oribioye, called for the resolution of technical glitches to enable the district meet its registration targets.

The State APC E-Registration Coordinator, Prince Fred Mordi, revealed that Delta State was selected to host the South-South APC e-registration training. He reported steady growth in registration numbers despite minor challenges and expressed confidence that the state would meet its targets before the deadline.

The meeting observed a minute of silence in honour of late Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, who represented Delta North Senatorial District in the Senate.
