AMORI HAILS OBOREVWORI, GUWOR, LAWMAKERS ON PASSAGE OF ₦1.7 TRILLION 2026 APPROPRIATION ACT

Chief Sen. Ighoyota Amori, JP, PhD, Chief Adviser to the Executive Governor of Delta State, has lauded Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, and members of the House for their pivotal roles in the successful passage and assent of the ₦1.7 trillion 2026 Appropriation Act.

Chief Amori described the development as a clear demonstration of visionary leadership, responsible governance, and growing institutional maturity in Delta State. He noted that the seamless cooperation between the executive and legislative arms of government reflects a shared commitment to strategic planning and people-oriented development.

He explained that the 2026 budget provides ₦500 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦1.229 trillion for capital projects, underscoring the administration’s strong focus on infrastructure development, economic growth, and enhanced public service delivery. According to him, Governor Oborevwori’s prompt assent to the Appropriation Act further highlights the administration’s resolve to ensure fiscal discipline, timely implementation of policies, and measurable impact on the welfare of Deltans.

Chief Amori also commended Speaker Emomotimi Guwor for his calm, inclusive, and effective leadership, which ensured thorough legislative scrutiny and a smooth passage of the budget. He equally praised members of the House, particularly the Committee on Budget and Appropriations, for their professionalism, diligence, and collaborative approach throughout the budgeting process.

Describing the budget as a strategic roadmap for the realization of the MORE Agenda, Chief Amori said it prioritizes balanced development, human capital development, critical infrastructure, and sustainable economic growth. He expressed optimism that diligent implementation of the budget would stimulate job creation, improve living standards, and further consolidate Delta State’s reputation for prudent fiscal management.

He reaffirmed the administration’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustained synergy between the executive and legislative arms of government, stressing that such cooperation remains essential to delivering lasting and meaningful dividends of democracy to the people of Delta State.
