Governors Hope Uzodimma and Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, have rallied stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South to adopt unified messaging and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The call was made at the South-South Strategic Communications and Mobilisation Summit held in Asaba, themed “One Party, One Message, One Mobilisation.”

The summit brought together top APC leaders, including Mai Mala Buni, to strengthen communication strategies and deepen public engagement in support of ongoing reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking at the event, Uzodimma, who doubles as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, said the summit produced a national action plan with clear timelines and responsibilities to drive economic growth and national development.

He acknowledged improvements in key economic indicators but noted that many Nigerians are yet to feel the impact, stressing the need for effective communication at the grassroots.

“You must take government policies to the people in simple terms and bridge the gap between performance and public understanding,” he said.

Uzodimma also defended key reforms such as fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification, describing them as necessary steps to fix long-standing structural challenges in Nigeria’s economy.

Host Governor Oborevwori emphasised that unity within the party remains critical to political success, warning that fragmented communication could weaken the APC’s influence.

“We must move beyond words to action by taking the message to the grassroots, defending reforms, and mobilising support effectively,” he said.

In his remarks, Okowa said the summit was designed to equip party ambassadors with tools to effectively communicate the Renewed Hope Agenda, which targets unemployment, weak fiscal systems, and low investor confidence.

He noted that despite achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and increased oil production, poor communication has limited public appreciation of government efforts.

Also speaking, former minister Adedayo Adeyeye described the South-South as Nigeria’s economic backbone and expressed confidence in APC’s chances in 2027.

Other key stakeholders at the summit included Ajibola Basiru and Felix Morka, among others.

The summit ended with a strong call for coordinated action, disciplined messaging, and sustained grassroots engagement, seen as critical to the success of the APC’s reform agenda and its electoral prospects in 2027.
